Press release from the Town of Grafton:
May 4, 2022
Following a long career in Public Service, Grafton's Council on Aging Director Barbara Connelly will be retiring from her position on July 6, 2022.
Ms. Connelly has served in the Grafton Senior Center for almost fifteen years, beginning in September of 2007 as a Secretary/Bookkeeper. In mid-2012 Ms. Connelly was appointed as Interim Director for the Senior Center. In September of the same year, more than 35 Seniors submitted a petition to the Select Board, advocating for her appointment as permanent director of the Senior Center. In the petition, the Seniors credited Ms. Connelly's exemplary dedication and compassion, her eagerness to assist each Senior, and the powerful relationship they had formed.
Ms. Connelly was appointed as the full-time Senior Center Director with the Council on Aging on April 3, 2013. Since this time, she has continued to exhibit the same compassion and dedication for Grafton's Senior population as she did a decade ago.
When asked about the announcement, Mr. Evan Brassard, Town Administrator, stated "I've had the pleasure of working with Barb for a little over a year now, and I can sincerely say that is one of the most compassionate, caring, and dedicated people I have had the pleasure of working with. She has a genuine care for our Senior population that makes her invaluable in this position. While we're sad to see her go, but happy to see her start the next step of her journey, I'm confident that the legacy she leaves in the Senior Center will continue."
