MINEOLA, NY — Police have released photos and video that they said show how a cigar thief shimmied his way through a security cash drawer at a Mineola gas station.
A BP Gas Station employee arrived to work at the Jericho Turnpike location around 6 a.m. on Feb. 19 and noticed multiple cigars were missing out of boxes, Nassau County police said. After reviewing store security video, workers discovered a man entered the store around 10 p.m. the night before through a security cash drawer, took cigars and left through the same route. The man fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Police said the man was wearing a white shirt, black jeans, and possibly a white bandana covering his face. Video shows he appeared to wear a "Space Jam" T-shirt during the theft
