Press release from ADC: May 6, 2022 The Adult Day Center of Somerset County (ADC) has announced Heidi and Andy Zangara as the recipients of the 2022 Ventantonio Volunteerism Award. Heidi and Andy are being recognized for their dedication to the ADC. The award will be presented at the Getting Better with Age Wine Tasting event on June 16, 2022, at the Raritan Valley Country Club. Heidi and Andy became part of the ADC family when Heid's mom, Marian became a member in 2013. Marian attended the ADC for two years and Heidi and Andy were so appreciative of how the ADC cared for her they wanted to give back. They learned the ADC was a non-profit, hosts a wine tasting fundraiser, and volunteered to help with the planning committee. They have contributed by soliciting ads and donations, spreading the word about the event, and helping on the event day. Since Marion's passing in 2015, they have served as ambassadors of the ADC in the community, referring a steady of stream of caregivers to the program and support group as well as counseling other caregivers in the process. Diann Robinson, Executive Director, explains "Heidi and Andy have been dedicated volunteers and advocates of the ADC and we are honored to recognize them for their contributions." The Ventantonio Volunteerism Award was named in memory of Bridgewater residents Jim and Anita Ventantonio. The couple made generous contributions of financial resources and leadership to the ADC and to the greater Somerset County community. Jim served on the ADC Board of Trustees for several years and subsequently served as legal counsel when ADC was a tenant at the People Care Center. Anita sat on the Board of Trustees from 2012 – 2015 and served as Chair. The "Getting Better with Age" Wine Tasting is one of the Center's two fundraising events. Proceeds from the event go towards operating expenses, which are the most difficult to raise. They are necessary to pay dedicated staff, take care of the facility, purchase program materials, and launch new therapeutic activities. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through the ADC's website – www.adultdaycenter.org. The ADC, a compassionate community of acceptance, is a non-profit agency committed to providing extraordinary day care services for the elderly and disabled residents of Somerset County, and support for caregiving families.
