By Tim Jagielo, WNIN May 6, 2022 Tuesday's Primary Election for County Sheriff ended the race between two current members of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office. Col. Noah Robinson was declared the winner of the democratic primary only a couple hours after voting closed on Tuesday evening. He started by thanking his wife Jamie and other supporters , but quickly switched to asking his supporters to strike a conciliatory, humble tone after the victory. This is because he ran against fellow department member Maj. Jason Ashworth. "I'm not looking for victory lap," Robinson said. "Starting tomorrow I want to bring this agency together and heal some wounds that are unfortunate, but we're gonna move past it. I need everyone, your help to do it." Robinson says if he wins in November, he wants to get back to relationship-based policing. " … where our office, our deputies know the people they police and the people they police, know them. It's very important to me and something we're going to make happen in 2023, if I'm successful." He'll run against Republican Jeff Hales, a retired Evansville Police Department investigator in November. Current Sheriff Dave Wedding is term-limited and cannot run again. Maj. Jason Ashworth could not be reached for comment. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
