PASCO COUNTY, FL — Pasco County is being honored with a National Association of Counties 2020 Achievement Award. The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for communities and neighbors. Pasco County Government received honors for "Demolition of Dangerous Structures-All Hands Approach" in the category of County Administration and Management. The award recognizes efforts by Pasco's High Return Enforcement Team – a specialized team of subject matter experts trained to handle complex enforcement matters. The HRE team identifies high-priority enforcement cases and is working to reduce the number of dangerous slum structures in Pasco County. By using the demolition ordinance, the team has reduced turnaround time on investigating dangerous structures by 90 days on average and demolished more than 75 unsafe structures. "I want to thank the National Association of Counties for recognizing the great work Pasco Countyis doing to address dangerous structures and community blight," said Pasco Commission Chairman Mike Moore. "I am proud of the hard work our team puts in to effectively and efficiently improve our community. Congratulations to everyone on the Pasco HRE team for this well-earnedrecognition." NACo's annual Achievement Awards program, started in 1970, is designed to recognize countygovernment innovations. Each nominee is judged on its own merits and not against otherapplications received. Nationally, awards are given in 18 categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice and public safety, county administration, information technology, health, civic engagement and more.
