Press release from the City of Shakopee: May 5, 2022 The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, May 3. Among the meeting highlights: City Council approves updated license agreement for library services with Scott County The City Council approved an updated agreement with Scott County regarding library services. The updated agreement clarifies activities that are allowed in the city-owned library building and stipulates the county can seek City Council approval for additional activities. Council approves renovation of Community Center Kids Cove The City Council approved a renovation project of the Kids Cove space at the Shakopee Community Center. The project will add a permanent wall to create a space that can accommodate 20-25 people, and a collapsible wall that will allow the space to be used for larger groups if necessary. City Council approves changes to Lions Park 'Youth Building' The City Council approved a name change for the Lions Park "Youth Building," which will henceforth be called the "Log Cabin." Council also approved the consumption of alcohol in the space, contingent on a rental customer's payment of appropriate damage deposits and permits. Council OKs design services, construction manager for SandVenture renovation The City Council approved a $425,750 contract with Confluence for design services for the renovation of SandVenture, as well as a $345,000 contract with RJM for construction management services. The renovation project will begin after SandVenture closes for the 2022 season and is expected to be complete by June 2023. Council approves contracts for Windermere Neighborhood Park The City Council approved a $500,000 design-build contract with Cre8Play and a $195,426 professional services agreement with Confluence for design and in-construction services for the Windermere Neighborhood Park. The project includes a large nature-themed playground, interpretive nature path, hammock groves and an observation tower on the bluff. Council authorizes restrooms for Quarry Lake Park The City Council authorized the purchase of a prefabricated restroom building for Quarry Lake Park.
