TUCSON, AZ — Tucson police have arrested a man in connection with the Monday slaying of 44-year-old Christy Kaplowitch, police said in a news release. Michael Edward Aguilar, 63, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first degree murder, kidnapping and auto theft, according to police. He is being held in Pima County Jail on $1 million bond, according to online jail records. Kaplowitch was found dead inside a Tucson apartment around 7 p.m. Monday. She had suffered obvious physical trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Officers could not find Kaplowitch's gray 2016 Ford Fiesta at the apartment complex, but located it Thursday night at a property in the 1700 block of East Bandana Lane in Pima County, police said. When they searched the property, they found Aguilar in a mobile home there, police said. According to police, Aguilar and Kaplowitch had previously been in a relationship.
