DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Good weather will accompany great music and delicious food Saturday afternoon when the Douglasville Police Department stages its Music Festival from noon to 5 p.m. The event, free for both performers and the public, promises live music on the front lawn of police headquarters on Fairborn Road — and all music will be minus offensive content. Talent will receive first-, second- and third-place awards based on audience applause. According to online posts from the department, the competition will have MC Aaron Dandrea and a DJ throughout the day. Other performers will include saxophonist De Wayne Martin, guitarist Bennie Amey, jazz artist Joel Cruickshank, along with rapper — and Douglasville police officer — Alonzo Merchant. Vendors signed up so far include Tintswalo with hibachi, D's Rolling Snack Shack with chicken wraps and Italian sausage, Tasty Miracle Food with creole cuisine, and Chick-fil-A with its famous chicken sandwiches. "Relax, bring a lawn chair and enjoy," said Sgt. Shannon Dean, community outreach coordinator for the police department. Vendor spots are $10 and require registration. For more information, contact Dean at 678-293-1621 or [email protected].
