POLK COUNTY, FL — The Florida Department of Health reported as of Monday morning that Polk County has a total of 1,206 confirmed coronavirus cases and 67 deaths. The state has 64,904 confirmed cases and 2,712 deaths. Compared to Sunday's numbers, there has not been a change in confirmed cases or deaths in the county. However, the total number of positive cases has increased for the state in the last 24 hours, as Sunday's number was 63,938. For Polk County, the Florida Department of Health reports that 728 females and 465 males have tested positive for coronavirus. The median age for those who tests positive is listed at 53. The report stated that 753 tested positive are white, 234 are black, 148 are other and 58 are unknown. Florida entered Phase 2 on June 5, and that lifted more restrictions in places such as restaurants, bars, gyms, tattoo studios, acupuncture clinics, tanning salons and massage businesses. The CDC advises doing the following to stop the spread of the virus: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
