Description
WEYMOUTH, MA — Weymouth police said there will be an increase of speed-related patrols in the town in June after what they described as "an unexpected trend of speeding and reckless driving during the COVID-19 crisis."
Police said that, despite decreased traffic due to the stay-at-home order, speed-related traffic deaths rose in the state from 27 to 28. With traffic expected to return to more typical levels as the state slowly reopens the economy, police said they will crack down on potentially dangerous driving habits.
The Summer Speed Mobilization effort is set to begin on June 5 and runs through June 30.
"Let's all do our part, please don't speed," Weymouth police said.
