WEYMOUTH, MA — A failed air handler at South Shore Hospital caused smoke to fill the building and forced an evacuation of the Dana-Farber/Brigham & Women's Center for Clinical Affiliation on Monday morning. South Shore Hospital said patients and colleagues at the cancer center were all safely evacuated from the building, which remained closed on Monday afternoon. South Shore Hospital said first responders and engineering services were assessing any damage to the facility on Monday afternoon, and it was expected to be closed much of the day.
