Bassist looking for people to play with/form a band with!
Extra bonus points if you’re a drummer! Extra extra bonus points if you’re a woman/not cishet dude (though I’m not opposed to playing with men).
Hey there! I’m Haley and I‘ve been playing for a little over 7 months which might have just made you scroll quickly by (that’s ok, I get it!) *but* the fun thing is that I practice a shitload (technical term) and work with a private teacher so probably suck less than you think. I’m looking to play with people other than my husband (who plays guitar) and my dog (who occasionally howls) in my living room. I sing (but don’t particularly want to beyond backing up someone else), play bass with some folks who aren’t able to commit to anything regular, and have written a fair amount of music and am a pretty capable lyricist but sadly never recorded any of it.
I love a lot of different types of music but what I’m most interested in playing is a mix of beach goth/surf rock, “indie” with roots in classic rock/Americana, a little hint of 60s soul, and some grittier punk elements thrown in. That’s stupidly specific. That’s in an ideal world, but I’m also open to fitting in to whatever involves rad people having a fun time.
I’m in El Cerrito and have a wonky work schedule and a kid but can make the time. I don’t drive but I can figure out transport. I have gear. I don’t have a place to practice but you’re welcome to come to my living room initially and awkwardly make do. I’d be open to getting a practice space if we felt like a good match.
Here’s a video of a few songs I played in the last week (these were for the purpose of working with my teacher, not necessarily indicative of what I’d want to play but added to support the idea that I’m not totally incapable!). https://youtu.be/zPPUU6UZd74
If you’ve made it this far and feel compelled to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
