WESTON, MA — Weston reported 42 positive cases of the new coronavirus in town, as of Monday. The town is monitoring 155 people and anticipates a surge in cases in the coming weeks in town and across the state. All people infected or in close contact are under a 14 day quarantine. "We all need to work together and be even more vigilant about staying at home and practicing physical distancing and increased hygiene in order to reduce the spread," the town said in a message to the community. Only essential Weston government operations are in place and two major Town projects that are continuing under approved conditions. Weston's Emergency Reserve Corps (WERC) is seeking volunteers to help the community respond to the coronavirus crisis. The state's coronavirus case count nears 14,000 and a death toll of 260. Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday announced a new $13 million relief fund to support nonprofits working on the economic impacts of the outbreak.
