Highwire Improv brings a night of improv comedy to Checkerspot Brewing! Great food, drinks, and laughs in an awesome space! Highwire Improv presents a night of Baltimore's best improv troupes here to make you laugh for hours while you enjoy delicious food and craft brews from Checkerspot Brewing Company! Never been to an improv show before? All you need to know is that it's fun, funny, and all made up on the spot, so bring your energy and pay attention because you never know what will happen next. That's especially true with the amazing lineup we have for this one. Doors open at 6:30pm for food and drink and the show starts at 8pm. About the Acts: Topiary are a group of very weird friends and do their best to reflect that in improv! At least one person has called them the darlings of the indie improv scene in Baltimore. They'll perform one big scene in one location (the fancy improv term is a monoscene). David Bowie (the improv troupe) simply told us; 'we are awesome' and we have to agree. They'll make you laugh with a portrayal of family dynamics that goes beyond what you see at home. Whatever This Is are a four person team comprised of improv experts who can perform any form, real or imagined. They use their proprietary Cone of Silence technology to devise a brand new show in front of the audience's eyes. Cake Walk is a world champion improv troupe from Baltimore, Maryland. Their format is situational improv based on television comedies which feature a predominantly white cast. They reimagine the show as an all Black cast and create a new world based on a suggestion. About the Venue: The Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly is Maryland's state insect. Our namesake embodies our belief that without an appreciation of nature, and local, quality ingredients... great beer cannot exist.
