Linking Indy Women Presents: Tragedy to Triumph Linking Indy Women Presents: Tragedy to Triumph GUEST SPEAKER: Andrea Carlile, Author of The War That Came Home Andrea Carlile is currently the Community Engagement Coordinator for HVAF, Helping Veterans and Families, the largest non-profit in Indiana serving veterans. Andrea published her first novel, “The War That Came Home” in 2012, and was featured in the documentary, “When War Comes Home” in 2016. The film premiered in New York City and was featured at the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis. The book and film, a story of tragedy to triumph, tell Andrea’s harrowing journey of navigating her husband’s combat with PTSD. For the last ten years, she has shared her story to raise awareness about veteran’s issues and offer support and hope to others who may be facing similar challenges. Her role at HVAF has given her a chance to merge her passion with her professional experience and education. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a master’s degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Andrea and her husband have been married 22 years and have two daughters, and currently live in Noblesville. Trigger Warning: Andrea's story is an important one.
