Description

Participants will engage in a session that will equip clinicians with the tools to provide women with the therapeutic support they need. Women struggling with substance use disorder require specialized support. The support a woman receives can dramatically affect the success of her treatment journey. Participants will engage in an enriching session that will equip clinicians with the tools to recognize and provide women with the therapeutic support they need. ~~~ Course Goals: Enhance knowledge of the disease of addiction, heightening awareness of attitudinal perceptions associated with people living with opioid addiction.Explore the impact of addiction on the community, especially regarding communities of faith Discuss the needs of families struggling with a loved one's opioid addiction. Outline the nine principles of community engagement. ~~~ NAADAC Counselor Group Skills: Clinical Intake and Screening, Clinical Assessment, Counseling Services, Case management, Treatment plan, Discharge, Continuing Care and Professional Development Contact Hours & CEUs: 6.0 hours Cost: 60.00 # of participants-30 Approved by: TDMHSAS, TCB, pending NAADAC and not approved for CPRS Is Lunch Provided? Handouts: will be given out during or after the training ~~~ Presenter: Ms. Black has over 24 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment and HIV care management. She has served as a technical assistance expert on the Medication Assisted Treatment and Prescription Drug Overdose Abuse (SAMHSA) MAT-PDOA project. Ms. Black has provided technical assistance and training to over thirty states, evaluation of technical assistance, technical assistance implementation, and grantee guidance. She provides local, federal, and global community engagement and outreach strategies to combat societal and poverty issues. Ms. Black also served as a technical assistance expert for the Behavioral Health and HIV Technical Assistance Center (BH-HIVTAC) for CSAP/CSAT grantees. In addition to serving as training manager for Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center, she has served as a nonprofit, addiction professional, and cultural diversity and inclusion consultant for the southern region for over 18 years. Ms. Black earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work in 1999 from the University of Memphis and a Master’s Degree in education with a minor in Counseling from Troy State University in 2005. She is a credentialed Advance Certified Addiction Counselor. Ms. Black is currently Principal Consultant for Novastein Innovative Solutions as the Substance Use Disorder & Community Engagement lead.
