Description

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough High School got a boost this week from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., who presented the school with a grant to throw a post-graduation party. The school was one of 18 across the county that got a grant from Early's office for activities meant to steer students away from drinking and other risky behavior after events like prom and graduation. "These celebrations can turn into tragedies in the blink of an eye when drinking and driving is involved. These programs help keep kids safe while they have fun and celebrate rituals of high school life," Early said in a news release. Early's office has given out about $25,000 in grants for safe school parties this spring. The money comes from the state Office for Victim Assistance Drunk Driving Trust Fund. Westborough High School's 2022 post-graduation party, Project Graduation, will be held overnight at Teamworks on June 4. Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that the grant was for a party after Westborough's 2022 prom.
