SALEM, MA — Drug busts in Salem and Lynn led to three arrests and the seizure of two loaded handguns, ammunition, fentanyl pills and a "friendly" pit bull named Kilo on Wednesday morning. State police said that Salem and Lynn police assisted in the Drug Enforcement Agency bust as part of an investigation into drug trafficking on the North Shore. Police executing the Lynn search warrant said they found the illegal drugs hidden in a dog crate with the pit bull inside — secreted underneath the dog's bedding. Police described the dog — which was named "Kilo" — as "friendly" and in the custody of North Shore Animal Hospital in Lynn on Thursday afternoon. Police said they arrested Andre Wesley, 34, and Giselle Gonzalez, 28, were arrested on outstanding warrants in the Lynn bust on Broad Street. They said they found 250 pills of what is believed to be pressed fentanyl weighing about 34 grams, along with Kilo the dog. Police said they also arrested Joell Sosa on an outstanding warrant during a search of an apartment on Laurent Road in Salem. In the Salem apartment, police said they seized a loaded Beretta 9mm, a loaded Glock .45, two loaded 9mm magazines and an additional 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition. They also found about 160 grams of pressed pills that they said field-tested positive for a fentanyl-methamphetamine compound.
