STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford baseball team rolled past Pomperaug 9-1 in a South-West Conference game on a rainy, dreary Monday afternoon.
Junior Joe Booska didn't let the elements affect his pitching effort, finishing with a complete-game four-hitter and allowing only one run.
Despite the conditions, the Stratford defense played errorless ball led by the infield trio of junior third baseman Ben Petrie, senior shortstop J.J. Romatzick and senior second baseman Josh McDowell.
Not to be outdone, sophomore left fielder Zach Rider and junior catcher Jake Kszywanos also played their positions with flair and skill.
Stratford was led at the plate by senior Aidan Ormsbee who hit a long triple and scored a big run and McDowell, who went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Stratford's other runs were the result of good baserunning and the team taking advantage of Pomperaug's four errors and several wild pitches.
Stratford improved to 7-7 overall (4-5 SWC) heading into Thursday's game against Newtown.
