Here are the top four stories today in Buffalo: The International Institute of Buffalo's "I Stand For Peace" event on Sunday showed support for civilians affected by the war in Ukraine. Filled With Love Cupcakes, a local business started by a former Ukrainian refugee, set up the fundraiser featuring other local businesses. The family-friendly event was held at Soho Buffalo and offered a basket raffle, silent auction, and a 50-50 raffle, as well as local vendors and photographers. (WGRZ.com) Early Saturday morning, the Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight Mission 11 took 46 local veterans to Washington, D.C. to experience the nation's war memorials. The Western New York veterans represent those who served in World War II the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cold War. Honor Flight says this once-in-a-lifetime journey comes without a cost to the veterans. (WGRZ.com) The last major Buffalo theater to come back with live programming, Theatre of Youth (TOY) presents Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" this month. This is the theater's first live performance since The Outsiders was shut down in March 2020. With "Beauty and the Beast" under its belt, TOY plans to announce a full 2022-23 season soon.
