OAK CREEK, WI — The southbound lanes of Interstate 41/94 were closed early Thursday morning at Ryan Road in Oak Creek after a serious single-vehicle crash where the occupant was ejected, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
All lanes have re-opened, the sheriff's office announced in a tweet around 10:10 a.m. An initial investigation showed the driver may have struck the median wall and swerved across lanes of traffic before rolling down an embankment, the tweet said.
The driver was brought to the hospital and is being treated, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office announced the closure via Twitter around 6:35 a.m. Traffic was being diverted off the highway at Ryan Road.
The occupant of the vehicle was seriously injured, the sheriff's office said in the tweet.
