Press release from Cecil County Government: 05/05/2022 Elkton, MD: Due to a nationwide industry supply chain and material shortage, the Elkton High School Stadium Turf project will now commence summer of 2023. All funding and approvals are complete; however, we have been notified that synthetic turf material availability is impacting projects locally and around the globe. County Executive Hornberger, School Superintendent Dr. Lawson, Town of Elkton Commissioner Charles Givens and Elkton High School Principal James Leitgeb met to discuss the issue and collectively decided that summer of 2023 would be best suited to ensure project success. Cecil County Government and the Cecil County Board of Education are disappointed that this project will be delayed but look forward to the successful completion of this project in the coming year. Funding for the Rising Sun High School Synthetic Turf Field project has been secured through the Local Parks and Playground Infrastructure Grant and will continue to move forward through the local and state approval process.
