GREEN BAY, WI — A dog found tied to a fire hydrant in Green Bay is now in the care of the Wisconsin Humane Society. A Green Bay resident posted photos of the animal on Facebook and added that she sat with the dog for an hour but no one came to claim the pet. The dog, named Baby Girl, was left with a backpack full of food, treats and toys, as well as a note, which explained that her owners could no longer care for her, according to WFRV. The woman brought Baby Girl, who is a mixed-breed dog and is about 6 years old, to the Wisconsin Humane Society's Green Bay Campus. "She's currently in our care serving her mandatory stray hold and is doing great," the Wisconsin Humane Society said in a Facebook post. "Rest assured that she's safe, she's getting tons of attention from our team, and she's on track to find her next loving family very soon." The humane society also noted that it was clear Baby Girl was loved by her previous owner and reminded the public that it welcomes anonymous surrenders, even when owners cannot pay surrender fees.
