Press release from California Institute of Technology: April 28, 2022 During the design and construction of the Chen Neuroscience Research Building at Caltech, the Hensel Phelps construction team preserved an existing mature oak tree, moving it to a prominent new location on campus rather than removing it entirely and replacing it with new landscaping. Originally located in the middle of the building site, the tree (pictured here) now graces the southeast corner of the intersection of Del Mar Boulevard and Wilson Avenue.
