PALM DESERT, CA — FirstBank officials celebrated their new partnership with the Coachella Valley Firebirds and Acrisure Arena Wednesday at a community event featuring music, food and team merchandise. The Firebirds — a minor league hockey team that serves as the Seattle Kraken's American Hockey League affiliate — will play their home games at the arena. This $250 million project will offer 11,000 seats to host entertainment performances in addition to hockey games. FirstBank will receive branding integrations for all events, in-ice logo placement, meet & greets, LED right exposure on the floor and more in a deal announced Wednesday. "We believe in doing what's right for our community, and a big part of that is supporting organizations and initiatives that drive economic growth, create jobs and continue making the Coachella Valley a vibrant place to live, work and play," said Jake Wuest, FirstBank's Palm Desert market president. "We're excited to welcome them as one of Acrisure Arena's presenting partners and officially join these two great institutions together." The arena, located at 75702 Varner Road, is scheduled to open in December. The Firebirds begin their inaugural season in October, and will probably play their initial home games in Seattle, Kraken General Manager Ron Francis said Tuesday. In January, officials announced a 10-year sponsorship agreement between the formerly titled Coachella Valley Arena and Acrisure Arena — a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based insurance and financial technology firm. Financial terms were not disclosed.
