Press release from the City of Kansas City: May 2, 2022 The City Council is appropriating $1,233,850 from the Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund (NTDF) to 131 nonprofit organizations to promote neighborhood, cultural and entertainment events throughout Kansas City. The city's NTDF board selected the recipients through the fiscal year 2022-23 application cycle. "We're looking forward to getting back to normal and the opportunity to have a full year of events," said Jason Pryor, NTDF chairman. "I am proud to be part of the City process of partnering and supporting wonderful organizations promoting all of Kansas City." The recipients include the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the American Jazz Museum's 25th Anniversary Concert Series, Boulevardia, the Kansas City Irish Fest, Fiesta Hispania 2022 and Juneteenth KC. "The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is thrilled to have the continued support of NTDF for our 2022 series of programs events that includes the National Baseball Hall of Fame induction celebration of the legendary Buck O'Neil," said Bob Kendrick, museum president. "Our partnership with NTDF will help us engage local, regional and national audiences to experience all that Historic 18th & Vine has to offer." Boulevardia June 17-18 Boulevardia June 17-18, 2022 "Boulevardia is thrilled to hear that we are receiving NTDF funding for 2022," said President and CEO Keli O'Neill Wenzel. "Boulevardia had to cancel in 2020 and could not take place in 2021, which was not easy for the economy of the organization or the economic impact the festival has on all the businesses and non-profits that support the event. We appreciate NTDF recognizing the importance of this festival and its role in driving tourism to our city." Juneteenth Celebration NTDF promotes Kansas City's neighborhoods through cultural, social, ethnic, historic, educational and recreational activities, while promoting Kansas City as a premier convention, visitor and tourist destination. Projects must be open to KCMO residents and attract visitors from outside the city limits. Projects considered included: festivals, rodeos, sports tournaments, concerts, movies in the park, homes tours, exhibits, parades and races/runs.
