ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a tracking device, a car fire, a chronic nuisance, a wallet theft, a drunk person, harassment, fraud and DUIs. Here is the information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Tracking device A resident in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue told police Monday that a suspect placed a tracking device in her car while exchanging belongings. The suspect admitted he put the device in her car. The tracker had been in her car since March 31. No charges have been filed yet. An investigation is pending. Car fire Firefighters put out a fire about 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of South Fairchild Avenue, near Lincoln Elementary School, which is under construction. The owner said his car caught fire after he parked it. Chronic nuisance The police issued a chronic nuisance warning for a residence. Typically, the police release the block number of the street where the nuisance is occurring. That information wasn't released this time. Wallet theft A person told police that a man's wallet was removed from his rolling walker April 28 in the 400 block of West Butterfield. The victim later said he was missing money from his wallet. An investigation is pending. Drunk person An officer saw a drunk person lying down on the west side of the Shell gas station, 301 W. Butterfield Road. Medics took the person to the hospital. Harassment A woman in the 700 block of South York Street told police Wednesday that a suspect became verbally aggressive toward her. She said the suspect has a history of abusive behavior and is allowed court-supervised child visitation. She wished to document the incident for court purposes. Fraud A resident in the 800 block of North York Street told police Monday that she received an email from Bank of America approving an unauthorized balance transfer. The bank stopped the transfer. No monetary loss was reported. A resident in the 400 block of South Hawthorne told police Monday that five unauthorized transactions were made on her US Bank account. They were from April 19 and April 28. DUIs Amanda Lopez, 24, of Lombard, was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday at North and Villa on charges of DUI (drugs), illegal transportation of marijuana by a driver, improper lighting, improper lane usage and no seat belt. She was released on bond. Posha Hughes, 37, of Chicago, was arrested about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and North on charges of DUI, illegal stopping in the roadway and illegal transportation of open alcohol. According to a police report, Hughes was sleeping behind the wheel. She was released on bond. Driving violations Juan Tlalpachito, 30, of Chicago, was cited about 2 a.m. Monday at York and Industrial on charges of no valid driver's license and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Pablo Gonzalez, 31, of Brownsville, Texas, was cited about 8:30 p.m Tuesday at St. Charles and Poplar on charges of no valid driver's license, illegal transportation of open alcohol and no registration. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
