Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood: Law enforcement agencies and drug experts across Ohio have been surveilling the emergence of new, dangerous synthetic opioids that have made their way into a number of counties in Ohio. Matthew Vanyo, director of the Westshore Enforcement Bureau Task Force, which serves a number of cities including Lakewood, said that Cuyahoga County, Northeast Ohio, and the rest of the state have been experiencing an opioid epidemic since early to mid-2016. Vanyo said that the situation is scary and that some nitazanes are 10 times more potent than fentanyl.
