Westford Election 2020: How Westford Voted In Trump, Biden Race

WESTFORD, MA — As the dust settled from the 2020 general election, unofficial results from the Nov. 3 election in Westford show voters mirrored much of the rest of the state in how they voted. Turnout hit nearly 83 percent in Westford, slightly higher than the 82 percent who turned out in the 2016 presidential election. Of the 18,338 registered voters in town, 15,185 voted in this election. Westford voted in favor of the right to repair ballot question, following much of the state. Westford was more conflicted about Question 2 on the ballot, regarding ranked choice ballots. It was rather close in Westford, losing, but it didn't get enough votes across the state where 54 percent of voters voted against the move and only 43 percent voted in favor, either. If it were up to Westford voters, they would put Vice President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House come Jan. 1. And Westford seemed to mirror the sentiment across the state here, too, where with 87 percent of districts tallied, the state tally puts 66 percent in favor of a Biden, Harris ticket versus 33 percent for a Trump, Pence ticket Wednesday. The town is waiting for mail-in ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 and arriving at the town clerk's office by Friday, Nov. 6. Those will be hand counted on Monday, Nov. 9 and added to the unofficial total that night.
