TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa says the second phase of its Jack Warner Parkway improvement project is set to commence on Monday, May 9 at 8 a.m. Click here to subscribe to our free daily newsletter and breaking news alerts. The city said Jack Warner Parkway will be closed between Greensboro Avenue and 21st Avenue, with one way access provided for the businesses on the south side of Jack Warner Parkway in this area. The second phase of the project will include a four-lane roadway divided by a landscaped median; six-foot sidewalks on the north side from Greensboro Avenue to 21st Avenue; Decorative roadway and pedestrian lighting, landscaping and irrigation; and underground utilities. City officials expect the closure to last through the end of the year, with the exact end date pending private utility company relocation efforts. The project is a component of House Bill 600 — known as Transforming Tuscaloosa County —which was passed in July of 2016. The measure redistributes county-wide sales taxes towards an investment fund for seven major transportation routes. Have a news tip or suggestion on how I can improve Tuscaloosa Patch?
