Here are the top three stories in Atlanta today: A security guard apparently shot an Atlanta Police Department officer during a burglary investigation on Thursday morning. The department was requested at a shoe store on Marietta Street when a single shot was fired outside of the store and struck the officer. The department has detained the security guard. The identity of the officer and the details of the injury have not been released as of Thursday evening. (WSB Atlanta)A special grand jury was selected in Atlanta on Monday for the investigation into whether the 2020 election in Georgia was illegally influenced by President Donald Trump. The grand jury was requested by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. 23 grand jurors and three alternates were selected through the process. (Opelika Auburn News)The East Point Police Department has identified a potential person of interest in an unsolved February homicide investigation. The department reportedly wants to speak with Jamarcus McCrary about the investigation. The incident regards a blunt force trauma death of a 16-year-old female at 2200 Ben Hill Road. Anyone with information regarding McCrary or the investigation is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta.
