Description
GULFPORT, FL — The LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library will continue its monthly LGBTQ Film Series on Thursday, Jan. 9 with "The Most Dangerous Year" (2019).
While "bathroom bills" began sweeping across the nation, The Human Rights Campaign called 2016 the most dangerous year ever for transgender Americans. This film captures the ensuing civil rights battle from the perspective of a group of embattled parents fighting to protect their children from discriminatory laws in their home state. The heart of the film lies in the stories of the families who accept and support their kids for exactly who they are.
The film series is a free gathering the second Thursday of each month.
Popcorn, candy, bottled water and soda are available. Donations will be accepted to benefit the LGBTQ Resource Center. Feel free to bring a "brown bag" supper and beverages. Each film begins at 7 p.m. in the Friends Room at the Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Ave. S. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
