Description

TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, NY — The Town of Hempstead announced that it would be temporarily suspending recycling pickup due to staffing shortages created by the new coronavirus. Starting on Monday, April 6, all recycling collection by town employees will be suspended. Residents are being asked to hold to their recyclables until service resumes, but there is no date yet for when that will be. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled. The Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department services Barnum Isle, Bay Park, Bellmore, Bethpage, East Meadow, Harbor Isle, Levittown, Lido Beach, Merrick, North Lynbrook, Point Lookout, Salisbury, South Westbury, Seaford, Uniondale and Wantagh. If your sanitation is handled by a special sanitation district or a village, you will need to contact them to see if there are any changes in your pickup.
