ROOSEVELT, NY — Two people, including one adolescent, were arrested Monday evening after police say they brandished a gun and threatened to kill a young woman and three children.
According to police, officers received a 911 call at 6:20 p.m. on July 13 for someone brandishing a gun in Roosevelt. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, said that she and three children — ages 1, 3 and 17 — were driving when a silver Nissan passed them. Police say the driver and passenger threatened them all and brandished the gun at them.
Police located the car a short time later while canvassing the area. Satoya Newine, 19, of Fenimore Avenue, Uniondale, was arrested without incident. Police say they recovered a loaded gun in the car. Police also arrested the adolescent.
A third person in the car — Tianna Carr, 20, of Maplegrove Avenue, Uniondale — was arrested for an unrelated charge, police say.
Newine is charged withe second- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of second-degree menacing. The adolescent was charged with second-degree menacing and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Carr was charged with third-degree bail jumping.
Newine and Carr are scheduled to be arraigned later today. The adolescent is scheduled to be arraigned in Family Court on July 27.
