ROOSEVELT, NY — A Roosevelt man was arrested Saturday night after police say he attacked someone he knew with an axe.
According to police, a man was in his home on Dawes Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Saturday night when he got into an argument with Ludlow Robinson, 55, who also lived in the house. Police say Robinson left and came back a short time later with an axe hidden in his pants.
Police say Robinson pulled out the axe and began swinging it at the man and threatened to kill him. Hearing the fight, the man's brother, who also lived in the house, tried to intervene and was hit in the head with the axe, police said.
The second man was able to get the axe away from Robinson, police said, and used it to defend himself and his brother until police arrived.
Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Robinson was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. He was arraigned on Sunday, and a temporary order of protection was issued. Bail was set at $5,000 and was not posted, court records show.
