Description
K9 Second Line, a New Orleans professional dog walking and pet sitting service entering its 12th year in business, is looking for part-time dog walkers and pet sitters for appointment requests on weekends during the day. This position is ideal for somebody looking to supplement their current income. We are hiring for immediate consideration. This position is ideal for people who want to make some extra money on weekends while hanging out and exercising with some pretty amazing pets. You will be expected to cover our regular weekend daytime dog walking appointments. There are also irregular weekend daytime appointments you are expected to cover, and you will have first right of refusal to any weekend or weekday nighttime appointments we have available. The ability to work many of these appointments as well is a plus! We have a quick onboarding process which includes a transparent interview via Zoom, in-person shadow training with our team members and some of our clients' pets, and direct training working within our app and our company best practices. Responsibilities: - Be available almost all weekends during the day. Appointments will take up a decent chunk, but not all, of your weekend days, and there is some flexibility around appointment times. You can have some weekends off, but regular availability on most weekends is a must. - Submit availability for every nighttime you also want to work. These appointments are irregular but frequent. - Review assigned appointments and create a personal plan to complete appointments efficiently and on-time. - Independently complete appointment requirements during the appointment window and in the time allotted (usually 30 minutes or 1 hour in length). Responsibilities could include any of the following tasks: a dog walk, pet feeding, refreshing water, watering plants, bringing in and sorting mail and packages, cleaning litter boxes, administering medication, securing the home, properly documenting the visit, and any other requirements of the visit. - Communicate with team members and team leaders where necessary. Non-negotiables: - You must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license. - You must have personal access to reliable motorized transportation. In some instances, it may be necessary to transport a pet, so your vehicle should be prepared to do that. - You must submit to and pass a federal criminal background check. - You must be able to work most weekend daytime appointments. Availability for weekend and weekday night appointments, as well as holidays, is a plus. - You must be physically capable of completing all tasks required at an appointment. Compensation: - $13.25 per hour, with 1.25 multiplier = $16.56 hourly. - Increases to $13.75 per hour, with 1.25 multiplier = $17.19 hourly, after a one-month training period. - Plus tips! Benefits: - Ability to grow within the company to an expanded role. We are one of the few dog walking companies in New Orleans with full-time staff. - Ability to grow your own personal dog walking and pet sitting business within our established and trusted brand. - Working with and exercising with animals usually relieves stress rather than piling it on. - Receive company training in pet exceptionalities and best practices that have led to us being a trusted name in New Orleans for over a decade. - Ability to retain ambassador status with the company to earn lifetime ongoing commissions and discounts on services. - You will almost exclusively work alone and independently. Challenges: - You must be able to work with various pet exceptionalities, including pets requiring medication, extreme patience, or firm handling. - You must provide your own vehicle, maintenance, and gas to get to appointments. - Appointment tasks can be quite physical, requiring a bit of walking, lifting, handling multiple heavy dogs, and cleaning pet waste in a variety of weather conditions. - You will have to be able to react to variable schedules. While there is a great deal of consistency to many appointments, there will be inconsistency with others. To apply, respond to this post with your resume or a personal overview (link to LinkedIn page, for example). We have no interest putting applicants through time-consuming activities like cover letters, personality tests, or the like, but we do require the personal overview or resume.
