Help for Saturday move

Jobs

Yulee FL

Description

Anybody available to help with a move Saturday? Looking for two people (who preferably already work together) … You’d think the following would go without saying but I’ve been down this road in the past with rather discouraging results so let me just put this right at the top: You have to be in good shape, like athlete good shape. That’s super important because you have to be able to lift boxes and furniture weighing 10, 25, 50 pounds (and more with a partner’s help) … repeatedly … again and again and again. Please don’t try to kid yourself or me that you’ve got plenty of muscle left over from your high school football days hiding underneath a layer (or two or three) of fat. If you huff and puff bringing in the groceries, this is probably not for you. You have to be able to go the distance and not need a 20 minute break every 30 minutes. You have to get the job done — in the agreed upon time … not the next day … or a third or fourth day (no, I’m not kidding — actually happened). Lastly, you have to show up — on time, not hours later when you were able to finally peel open your eyes and pick up my “where are you?” call after having way more than “one too many” with your buddies until 4 am that morning. At this point, you’re thinking, “This guy’s a real a**hole!” I’m not, truly. I’m just making the expectations clear so that nobody’s disappointed. As I said, I’ve been down this road many times in the past and have learned my lessons. While I could hire some big moving company where all the guys who break their backs get squat, I want to support folks who need and want the work, but I really can’t afford (financially or otherwise) for this move to turn into someone’s part-time job. So, if you’re still reading … I need two people (both at least 18) to move our belongings from a small two-bedroom ground-floor apartment in Yulee to a storage unit (location still undecided but will likely be in Kingsland, Ga. or thereabouts). There will be no steps involved at either location other than two small ones coming off the porch of the apartment. No appliances or other extraordinarily heavy or bulky items (except the couple noted below) will need to be moved. Here’s a full list of what’s involved: 2-4 small, 35-40 medium, and 10-15 large moving boxes, about 5 large plastic storage totes, a full-size bed, a twin bed, a dresser, two nightstands, a large oak desk (heavy), a couch, a large recliner (back separates from base), two sitting chairs (both light), a large coffee table (heavy), two end tables (also heavy), small side table, three heavy oak stools/chairs, office chair, large sewing table and chair (awkward but not heavy), a few floor and table lamps, an antique cabinet (relatively small but heavy piece of furniture I’ve ever carried), and two sets of metal shelves (light). There are also a handful of small items like trash cans and boxes of varying sizes, but none of these are heavy or difficult to move. You will need to do some minor prep work like breaking down the beds, securing the coffee table, removing drawers from the dresser, etc. — nothing major that should take more than 10 minutes each. If you have a box truck used in moving or can get one, we’d pay you for the use of it. We’re expecting everything will fit in one of U-Haul’s 17-foot trucks but will likely secure the 20-foot model if you do not supply your own vehicle. If you have a smaller truck, we’ll go with U-Haul because I want this to be a one-trip move and don’t want to waste time and fuel going back and forth on the highway. Having done this in the past, I’d have a hard time believing it should take more than 4-6 hours of hard work, maybe 8 at the absolute most. I will try to help you as much as I can, but I have heart failure so I can only handle the small, lighter items and at a slower pace. I don’t have any expectations about how much this will cost. You tell me what it’s worth to you (and that you can get it done without dragging it out) and we’ll go from there. My goal is not to find the lowest price out there. It’s to find a reasonable price from someone who can and will do the work. I would rather be able to show my appreciation with a bonus/tip for a job well done than shell out extra cash in frustration as things drag on. If you’re interested, send me an email or text 904 - 6 two 4 - one 7 7 six. NO CALLS Thanks for ready my novella!
