Breastfeeding Basics: Getting off to a good start and troubleshooting challenges. Dear Expectant Parents, We are sorry to inform you that, in accordance with the Center for Disease Control and the Maryland Department of Health's latest guidelines regarding the COVID-19 virus, Mercy Medical Center's Childbirth Education Department will not be giving live Breastfeeding Classes at this time. Please register as you normally would. Should the time for your class come and Mercy is still not having live classes, you will receive your class handouts in the mail the week before. You will be given a 50% refund through Eventbrite. You will also receive an invitation in your email to join your class virtually via WebEx. If you have any questions, please email us or call (410)332-9604 for assistance. Description This is a one time, in-depth course on breastfeeding, offered by one of our lactation consultants. This class focuses on the benefits of and barriers to successful breastfeeding and includes information on: How to know your baby is getting enough breast milk How to get started the right way Pumping How to trouble shoot problems Cost: $40.00 (plus a registration fee of $4.28) per couple Length of Class: 2 1/2 hours Details: You will receive an email about a week before class letting you know where the classroom is and where to park. Snacks will be provided. *When registering for the Breastfeeding Class, please keep in mind that it is meant to be taken later in pregnancy. Taking the class during the seventh or eighth month would be most beneficial. *Most insurance companies will provide reimbursement for the classes and some provide prepayment. Please call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card prior to registering for more information. *Employees of Mercy will receive a 20% discount for classes. Please do not use Eventbright to register for classes as you will be charged the full amount. Please contact the Childbirth Education office (410-332-9604), to register. *Classes have a minimum and maximum attendance requirement. If the minimum attendance is not reached, the class may not take place. If the maximum number of registrants has been reached for the class you want to take, please email the organizer at [email protected]. There may still be room in the class. *Inclement weather policy: classes may be canceled if there is inclement weather. You will be contacted by email if class is canceled or rescheduled.
