I'm a straight ahead jazz guitarist, relatively new in town. I happened to be on Frenchman recently and heard a guitarist playing some hot solos with a traditional New Orleans jazz ensemble. These guys were not a demure little dixieland group. They had a ballsy, brassy trumpet and a virtuosic reed man. I've only heard guitarists play rhythm in that kind of group before, so I haven't considered the genre previously. I learn tunes quickly, am easy to work with, have chops and sound good. I sing a little. Absolutely no drugs.
