Take a trip "Around the World in 5 Days" with super fun cultural activities, games & food from a different country every day! Children love to travel, arts & crafts, fun games, eating delicious snacks and to learn about different cultures - so we combined all of their favorite things into one exciting 5-day summer camp... they'll be so busy having so much fun that they won't even realize they're learning too! (#momwin) No need for a passport, just bring your sense of adventure and join the "Around the World in 5 Days Summer Camp" and experience: Arts & crafts inspired by famous artists like Leonardo DaVinci & Frida KahloSTEM & history-centered activities like African mask making, pyramid building, erecting marshmallow historical buildings & bridgesCulturally appropriate games like pétanque, salsa dance lessons, queimada & moreLearn how to cook (or just eat) delicious "ethnic" food such as aboriginal cuisine or Egyptian cookies!... all activities are centered around the country we are visiting that day! What countries will we be "visiting" and what will be doing? The day campers get to vote on what makes the world tour, choose from: France: Escargot (j/k), crepes, French games, marshmallow Eiffel towers, etcItaly: Ciambelle (an Italian pretzel), Italian games like Bocce, Italian art, etcGreece: Gyros or baklava, Greek mythology, ancient Olympic games, etcUkraine: Dragon, jingle-jangle & other fun games, Syrniki pancakes, & possible service project for refugees Japan: Kid-friendly sushi, fortune cookies (they are actually Japanese not Chinese), zen gardens, Japanese games, etcIndia: naan bread, Holi chalk party, yoga, dance lessons, etcSouth Africa: taught by a South African native sharing her culture & heritage Madagascar or Kenya: who doesn't love a good Safari, lemurs, interesting plants, and Mandazi donuts?! We sure do!Egypt: lokma or kahk cookies, early Egyptian history & mythology, pyramids, Senet board game, etcBrazil: Pao de queijo (gluten-free cheese bread), Queimada (Brazilian dodge-ball/capture the flag), Samba dance lessons, etcAustralia: Vegemite anyone? (lol - no seriously, it's a real thing, not just in a song!), Aborigine culture, kangaroos, Two-up coin toss game, etcMexico: tacos, Mexican hat dance, pinata, Día de Muertos, Frida Kahlo self portraits, etcSpain: churros (originally came from Spain & Portugal), bull fighting (uhhhh maybe not a real bull), Carmen, gypsy Flamenco dancing, etcIMPORTANT DETAILS: Dates: June 13-18 (Mon - Fri) (ask about possible dates in July & August) Time: 9 am - noon (ask about afternoon extension options) ** EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT - GET $10/OFF the program fee when you sign up by May 15th!! MEET YOUR CAMP COUNSELORS: Emma: an 8 year old absolutely obsessed with history, art and playing with friends! This camp is her brain child and she is so excited to share her passions with her fellow day campers. Phumla: just arriving from South Africa where she is a native, she is excited to share her African heritage with the day campers, including folk tales, songs, games, and of course delicious food! Bonnie: a homeschooling mom of 4 with a love for travel, culture, history, baking and mostly arts & crafts! *CANCELATION POLICY: Due the nature of the camp and the fact that I have to order supplies well in advance, I cannot refund the registration fee, or refund the program fee after June 1st unless there is a family emergency.
