WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Westborough man found a mortar round in his yard on Sunday while doing yard work. The discovery was made on Hyde Street. Mortars are artillery weapons that fire explosive rounds through a barrel, usually at close range. The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Unit removed the round from the yard and detonated it at another location. There was no word on how the round got into the yard or where it came from.
