Harry Chapin Food Bank Receives Emergency Grant from Griswold

Bonita Springs, Florida – December 3, 2020 – The Harry Chapin Food Bank recently received a grant from Griswold Home Care for its work to pack and distribute $30 20-pound food kits consisting of fresh produce that can feed a family of four for five days at drive-thru stations during the pandemic. Demand for the food kits has increased exponentially, according to the Food Bank. It issues 5,000 food kits a week at 12 locations. Based on demonstrated need, the Food Bank has increased its food distribution by 83%. “The funding that Harry Chapin Food Bank received from Griswold Home Care has helped us provide over 5,000 families food kits,” said Barbara Evans, Chief Development Officer at Harry Chapin Food Bank. “Harry Chapin Food Bank is grateful for the Jean Griswold Foundation’s Griswold Gives COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Program as it is a beautiful example of philanthropy that makes a difference.” The grant was made possible through the Jean Griswold Foundation’s Griswold Gives COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant Program. Launched in 2019, Griswold Gives is an annual grant program that enables Griswold Home Care franchise directors to give back to their communities by awarding a number of grants to local nonprofits of their choice. This year, the Jean Griswold Foundation activated the program early under the new name, Griswold Gives COVID-19 Emergency Relief Program, to assist with food insecurity during the ongoing Pandemic.
