A Les Blank double bill curated by barrio historian Eduardo Martinez of Pharr From Heaven On May 13, we will be hosting our third screening of 2022 at Junction Cafe in Pharr! Curated by barrio historian @pharrfromheaven, this RGV double feature will consist of CHULAS FRONTERAS and DEL MERO CORAZON, two captivating glimpses at an RGV long past from documentarian extraordinaire, Les Blank! In collaboration with Chris Strachwitz of @arhooliefoundation, these films captured precious moments with founders and titans of the Conjunto, Tejano, and Norteño genres and contextualized them for the filmgoing masses with respect to their land and culture. In their own words, sounds, and landscapes, these films are a love letter to the border in all its beauty and dimension. This screening will be free for all ages! We also encourage you to pair your evening with something delicious from Junction’s menu!
