Description

Press release from the Town of Wakefield: May 3, 2022 The work schedule and detour plan for North Avenue's water main upgrade has been modified. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week, work will move to the overnight hours and daytime traffic will be able to pass without detours. On Friday, daytime work will resume at 7 a.m. and continue for at least part of the day; traffic will be down to one lane or detoured when needed. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, the inbound-traffic detour on North Ave. will be in place from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Inbound traffic on North Ave. (from Reading, towards Wakefield) will be detoured around a work site near Veterans Field. Drivers will be routed to the Prospect St. ramp and follow detour signs toward Albion. Northbound traffic (towards Reading) can proceed on North Ave. as usual. The detour for that work site is expected to end at the completion of the work day on Friday, May 6, though weather and other factors can impact the speed of construction. If your travels take you through the area, please allow additional time. This press release was produced by the Town of Wakefield. The views expressed here are the author's own.
