Press release from the Boston Police District D-4 South End: May 1, 2022 BPD Community Alert: The Boston Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify the suspect shown in the images above in connection to an ongoing investigation of a Larceny by Scheme that occurred at about 12:45 PM on Friday April 29, 2022, in the area of 1 Silber Way in Boston. Officers spoke with an adult male and an adult female victim who stated that they were both attempting to send money home to their families in China but due to delays involved with international banking, they had searched online for a faster way to facilitate their transfers. The two victims were referred to a chat group via a messenger app where they spoke with an unknown individual who claimed that they could assist them with these transactions. After three days of communicating with the unknown party, they agreed to meet with the unidentified suspect, shown in the images above, at which time they agreed to give him $30,000 in U.S. Currency with the understanding that the suspect would then deposit Chinese Currency in the same amount to the family members of the victims. Upon receiving the U.S. Currency, the suspect counted the money and then fled the area on foot. Anyone with information is urged to contact D-4 Detectives at 617-343-5619.
