Description
A free event discussing how to cope with and prevent burnout. Look forward to a short hands-on practice and sound bath meditation. Join us this Saturday for a FREE outdoor event with Lauren Villegas and ATX Vegans. Due to the lasting effects of the pandemic, mental well-being has plummeted to a level that many of us haven't seen in our lifetimes. Mix in the added stress of animal advocacy, activism, and compassion fatigue, and it seems we are all either experiencing or are on the precipice of burnout. In this workshop, we'll learn about what burnout IS, how to prevent it, and explore how it manifests in the body. We'll also sit for a short meditation and sound bath. This event is open to all and free to attend. Please bring along an outdoor-friendly blanket and/or yoga mat. Arrive early and meet at the Vegan Nom stage behind the Soma Vida building. About our Workshop Teacher: Lauren Villegas is CEO of Living In Your Joy and specializes in burnout/stress management for corporate women* and employees. She worked her way through the corporate ladder for 10 years before burning out herself. Not having any tools or support on her side caused a chain reaction of health issues, bad coping skills, and poor decision-making. That led to a 7 year healing journey through Costa Rica where she got certified in sound healing therapy and breathwork. Adding to that mindfulness-based stress reduction, and years of meditation practice and teaching it. Also adding her new modality of somatic stress release to get to the root cause of burnout has been a game-changer for her in the industry. She loves creating safe containers for females in the Austin community with women circles, retreats, New and Full moon circles, and mindful hikes. With all these supportive modalities she wants every professional woman to have the tools and resources to understand their burnout and truly live a balanced and joyful life. She’s been vegan going on 7 years now and has changed her life completely! Fully supporting and committed to ending animal suffering and spreading more knowledge about farm cruelty have been many reasons why she went on a plant-based diet in the first place. She lives with her husband and sassy 13-year-old dachshund. She loves all things outdoors, like paddleboarding, hiking, rock climbing, and working on their backyard veggie garden. She’s a travel junkie and vegan foodie, trying to visit all the vegan restaurants in the world. She also loves to dance, so you can always find her salsa dancing or trying out new classes. *Though Lauren focuses her professional work with women, this workshop is open to ALL. The work we're doing will benefit everyone! Lauren Villegas
