NEW YORK CITY — One person was injured in a three-alarm fire that ripped through a Sunset Park apartment building Monday morning, FDNY officials said. The blaze sparked on the first floor of 5401 Seventh Ave. near 54th Street about 7:05 a.m., according to the FDNY. The flames quickly spread to the fourth floor and the roof and FDNY firefighters were still battling the blaze as of roughly 8:30 a.m., officials said. One person was treated for injuries at the scene but refused transport to the hospital, FDNY officials said. Video posted on Citizen shows smoke billowing from the building along with multiple fire trucks, one with its ladder extended to the roof, outside. The FDNY elevated its status to a three-alarm blaze about 7:45 a.m., officials said. Smoke eaters managed to knock down fires on its upper floors by 8:10 a.m., officials said.
