BOSTON — A man wanted on eight outstanding arrests warrants was arrested Tuesday night after police say he caused a crash that left two Boston motorcycle officers injured. Jason Souza, 39, of Roxbury, is facing assault and battery charges on a police officer and resisting arrest charges. Boston police officers responded to a report of a crash just after 11 p.m. around Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, saying they found two injured motorcycle officers and a man fleeing the scene on a bike. The officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but the nature of the crash was not immediately released by the police. This sparked an investigation from Boston officers, who searched the area, finding a bicycle and discarded clothing on Albany Street, near the accident site. Officers say they then saw Souza, the same man who had sped away from the crash. According to officers, Souza tried to resist arrest, biting an officer's hand and flailing his limbs. He was eventually taken into custody without further incident. Souza is expected to face a judge in Roxbury District Court at a later date.
