Description

Press release from the Baltimore County Fire Department: May 02, 2022 Fire investigators have determined that Friday's three-alarm dwelling fire in Dundalk was caused by an outdoor chicken fryer. The fire in the unit block of Flagship Road, 21222, was accidental, BCoPD investigators ruled. Fire crews were dispatched at 11:55 a.m. for a rowhouse fire than spread through the knee walls to adjacent units. Four homes were rendered uninhabitable by this fire; 11 adults, 5 children and multiple pets were displaced. A mayday was called when a firefighter became disoriented, but was quickly cancelled after he was located and was safe. No one was injured. The investigation found that the fire began at an add-on outdoor kitchen, where 30 minutes prior to the fire the occupant had been frying a chicken in a fryer.
