EAST HAVEN, CT — Jamie Cuticello was an Army senior logistics officer during Operation Enduring Freedom in Africa. He has years of experience in finance, project management, and strategic planning with budget and accounting leadership roles with the CT National Guard and Travelers Insurance. Oh, and he's a Grateful Dead fan. Now, the 40-year-old husband and father of three is East Haven's newly minted Director of Administration & Management and Economic Development. Cuticello is a graduate of Southern Connecticut University and earned his master's degree in business from Albertus Magnus College. In a recent interview with Patch, Cuticello said he's especially excited about his role in economic development. "It's important to retain and support the established businesses already here, making sure they know they're appreciated and supported by the administration," he said. "I also think it's extremely important to provide occupational choices for the kids graduating from East Haven High School." Cuticello said that the CNA and culinary programs are a good example of providing skills and training for young people. "I see it as birth to adulthood support. I'm a very community focused person," Cuticello said. "I think that's nonpartisan: supporting the community, regardless of who it is, is everything to me." Jamie Cuticello in his new office, and role, at East Haven Town Hall. Ellyn Santiago/Patch Cuticello said that he's at once proud and looking forward to offering his "experience and leadership" and importantly, he said, to be of service to the community. But it's not his first time being of service to East Haveners. Cuticello has a history of working closely with the town. As a current serving member of the CT Army National Guard, he worked with Mayor Joseph A. Carfora and the town's emergency management team during the late August 2020 no-name storm that brought tornadoes, and havoc, to East Haven. "Our staff worked with Jamie and throughout the interaction, our staff noted he was thorough and knowledgeable," Carfora said. Commissioning from U.S. Army Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning Georgia in 2012, Cuticello held Command and Senior Logistics positions both at home and abroad. Most recently in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa. He's a "proud" member of the 1-102d Infantry Association and, V.F.W. Post 7666. He lives in Guilford with his wife, three children. "Jamie brings us a broad scope of experience from the private sector to the military," Carfora said.
